Thatcher Associates are delighted to be working with a cutting-edge sub-contractor in the Bristol area who are looking to bring on board an Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. What is the opportunity?

You will have the chance to work with a diverse and exciting blend of clients, within the confines of a forthcoming and experienced team. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with estimating team regarding project particulars
  • Analyse tender labour rates and provide a breakdown of rates/prices to subcontractor labour.
  • Compile timely submission of labour only and labour/material sub-contract orders for each sub-contract employed at each separate project.
  • Liaise with site managers and procurement with regard to ordering and maintaining sufficient materials and minimise waste where possible
  • Establish from drawings any variations and alterations from the original tender package and submit to the main contractor.
  • Measure finished work for payment purposes to the sub-contractor
  • Ensure additional works including daywork are recorded for inclusion in payment requests by site managers or surveyors.
  • Pass subcontractor payments to accounts within the agreed timescales.
  • Valuations – compile measurements, variation accounts, daywork accounts for submission to the main contractor.
  • Attend site meetings for progress reports, record accurately in diary delays and disruption.
  • Compilation of claim items for extension of time, loss of profit, disruption, delay, variations.
  • Agree and sign off invoices returning to accounts in a timely manner.
  • Liaise closely with site management to ensure financial aspects are being maintained.
  • Submit timely correspondence respond to main contractor/clients with regard to financial communications and information
  • Report any gains or losses occurring due to site or tender issues.
  • Evaluate commercial aspect of completed works and complete and submit wrap up forms for each site, highlighting areas of both good practice and lessons to be learnt.
  • Provide training, guidance and authorisation of works for trainee surveyors.
You will have:
  • Confidence, be highly organised and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Be customer focused, attentive to detail and communicative
  • Have experience within Quantity Surveying field
  • Be forward-thinking, flexible and adaptable
  • Able to adapt to new software's.
