Thatcher Associates have been appointed to find an experienced Bid Writer based in South Devon to work with a regional contractor!

Are you a Bid Writer or a Bid Coordinator looking for a new challenge? Or a Creative Writer looking for a career that offers progression.

As the Bid Writer, you will be part of an established bid team. You will be responsible for the successful completion of high-quality tender and pre-qualifications submissions, working on projects up to the value of £30 million. The Bid Writer will manage the overall bid process, whilst communicating with other departments to manage inputs from business functions. You will not only be responsible for all proposal writing but also be heavily involved in the ascetic elements of the tender as such you will need to have a creative flair and be comfortable using Adobe InDesign.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be in charge of research that tracks future potential opportunities, along with monitoring incoming tender and OJEU notices. You will be responsible for writing all expressions of interest, requests for information and pre-qualification questionnaires along with updating the database with any identified opportunities. You will assist with the development of bespoke submissions and will be expected to attend the appropriate events to understand the procurement process of upcoming contracts. You will also manage and package up any design work before tender submission.

  • Strong editing, communication and writing skills with a creative flair;
  • Ability to manage high workloads whilst working under pressure and meeting deadlines;
  • Technically strong with a good eye for detail whilst maintaining a workload in a fast-paced working environment;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Fast learner and a team player.
Essential Experience:

As a Bid Writer, you will need to be competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It’s important that you’ve held similar positions as a Bid Writer or Coordinator to help with your application. Or have a creative writing background. 

Desirable Experience:
  • Previous experience working in the construction industry;
  • Degree Qualification or equivalent;
  • Ideally, you will have had experience coordinating teams and substantial volumes of documentation;
  • Experience with Adobe Suite specifically InDesign would be highly desirable but not essential.
