General Manager - Caribbean

Exclusive opportunity for a General Manager to be located in a sort after location in the Caribbean. The role is to join a very well-established Construction Management company in Cayman who have exclusive rights to a long-term workload with the Local Government offering continuity and scope with the company.

The position will be a Senior level role running a small to medium sized construction company succeeding the current GM who is progressing into retirement. The company tend to work on a wide range of projects predominantly commercial builds up to 50,000sq.ft. Current turnover of the company is around US$10m per annum employing directly around 12-20 people (dependent on workload). As the General Manager you will have direct responsibility for the growth of the business with the board looking for someone keen on growing and expanding the organisation.

This is a hands-on role requiring a well-rounded individual that can manage the day to day running of a small to medium sized business including profit and loss, accounts, as well as site based operations. Due to the size of the organisation it is important that the successful candidate can also take the lead on projects in certain situations assisting with project budgets, all payment applications, constructing of trade and client contracts as well as a proficiency in tendering for projects. Where required the GM will assist and oversee the site based Managers ensuring quality and programmes etc. Programmes should also be drafted by the GM and adjusted as required using MS Project.

Salary on offer for this role is between US$120,000 - $160,000 tax free, plus medical, pension, vehicle and bonuses. The long-term prospect for this role can offer an increase through profit sharing and a potential stake in the business. 

Essential Requirements:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in relevant field
  • Strong technical and financial background
  • Excellent communicator - liaising with clients and contractors
Sort-after Requirements:
  • Prior Caribbean or islands experience
  • Industry professional qualification i.e. CIOB or RICS
  • Single status (schooling can be a challenge)
