Land Buyer/Manager

This is a great opportunity for a Land Buyer or an aspiring Land Manager to take on a new role with a developer in the South West. 

My client is seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic individual who is able to purchase land and deal with all the legal contracts to take land transactions through the planning system. 

About the role:

As the Land Buyer/Land Manager you will be working within the commercial team and be the main point of contact for all land related duties. You will be responsible for establishing new development opportunities whilst ensuring the most cost effective contract is agreed on land purchases. My client has a strong land bank and they are seeking someone to handle the legal contracts not just buying. Your role with be key in the progression of the business, and you will take the lead on directing viability and feasibility reports for various development opportunities.

It's imperative you will have a good understanding of the UK Planning system and be able to oversee all planning processes whilst monitoring site progress through to permission.

To summarise, you will be responsible for identifying, acquiring and processing land transactions across the South West. You will need to demonstrate that you’re able to forecast a fruitful pipeline, be able to acquire profitable sites and deal with all the legals.  

About you:

You will need to be confident, commercial and enhance existing relationships whilst building upon new ones. You will need to demonstrate that you have:

- Strong negotiation skills which equate to successful budgeting and financial targets;
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Land Buyer;
- Confident with liaising with key stakeholders/decision makers;
- Sound technical and commercial background;
- Confident in working towards targets and budgets;
- Deliver on land identification, appraisal and acquisition of new sites;
- Strong planning knowledge with a proven track record;
- Reactive to the housing market and prices;
- Excellent communication skills verbally and written;
- Previous experience in the Property and Construction industry.

It’s expected you will be experienced in this field and have a good contact base in the surrounding area. You will have need to have necessary past experience working with a residential developer and/or housing association and be able to demonstrate good leadership qualities with a professional management style.

Successful candidates will need to hold a relevant professional degree either being RICS or RTPI qualified, or substantial experience.
